For dog owners, there are several off-leash areas around Petawawa, as well as excellent walking trails of on-leash walks. If you’re interested in meeting up with other dog owners, check out some of the social groups.

Remember to observe good pet etiquette, whether it’s in the dog park or walking on a trail.

Garrison Petawawa

For residents of RHU’s (military housing), there are two dog parks available for use, one on each the North Side and the South Side of base. An article from The Petawawa Post introducing the opening in 2019 can be found here.

North Side Dog Park

This spacious park with lots of large trees has two areas, one for small dogs and one for dogs over 15 lbs., located at the corner of Ypres Boulevard and Regalbuto Avenue, parking can be found across the street from 31 Regalbuto Ave.

South Side Dog Park

The dog park for those living in the South Side area of the community is on Borden Avenue, and parking can be found across the street from 1857 Borden Ave.

Scentral Bark Park – Town of Petawawa

Location: 16 Civic Center Road (left at the first four way stop coming from Petawawa Blvd)

Scentral Bark Park is located in the “back 40” of the Civic Centre property. This is a mix of open space and treed forest providing dogs an area to run and dog owners an area to seek shade and protection from the elements. There are also agility supplies available such as large tires to go through, around and over, a seesaw, ramp and more.

All dogs must have a Park Tag for entry.** Park Tags can be purchased through Town of Petawawa Municipal Office (1111 Victoria St. Email or phone 613-687-5678 ext. 2101 for more information). Owners must be in possession of a municipal dog tag to obtain a Park Tag.

The Bark Park – Pembroke

Location: Near 158-184 Riverside Drive

The Bark Bark is a former ball field to the left of the parks that has been turned into a large open dog park. It includes tunnels, ramps and a few other agility props, as well as a fake fire hydrant for those pups who love to mark. Open from dawn until dusk, it’s is a wonderful smoke-free space to exercise your pup.

Off-leash dog park tags are required to use the facility. Tags are $10.00 including H.S.T. and can be purchased at City Hall (1 Pembroke St. E).
